语言学习及教学经历：

2000年--2007年，就读于美国德州大学，主修意大利语和法语，兼修语言学。

2003年–2007年，作为TESL TEACHER，按自己设计教案，运用多种技能，教授墨西哥移民英语，并组织和领导讨论小组。

2005-2007年，兼职UNIVERSITY TUTOR ，一对一辅导大学生法语和意大利语。

2009-2010年，在上海一家台湾子弟学校任教，任教期间，教授从幼儿园到初中各个级别的班级，设计和编写属于自己的教案，另外，还设计和教授美式烹饪课程，积累了十分丰富的教学经验。

Self Introduction My name is Jaime Valentin Cortez.

I’m an American from the great state of Texas. I went to the University of Texas and earned two Bachelors in Arts; one in Italian and the other in French. I also studied Portuguese and linguistics.

Obviously, much of my life is about language and its study. I love languages, English, words, and the history of speech. I came to China to work in Shanghai originally, but after a year teaching there, I decided to move to beautiful Yangshuo. I like the pace of life and atmosphere of this town, especially the culture here at Zhuo Yue.

I believe students should feel comfortable and excited about speaking English, and I believe they should learn it using real-world materials, not things designed for ESL speakers. I try to keep a fun and relaxed atmosphere in my class while encouraging students to learn not only to speak English, but to USE English in an authentic way that sounds natural and organic. I focus on pronunciation and the skills needed to be able to teach yourself after you’ve left our school.

I am so grateful to have the chance to share my native language and culture with my students. I’ll see you in class!
